“There always will have been worlds” received an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica Campus Award 2024.

Everything that breathes cares or is cared for. Imagine you are entering a world. It tells stories of its past and current stage. You merge with it to an extent that you can no longer see it independently of yourself. A society that is shaped through care, through action but also inaction. The simple acts of collective and individual efforts can change the world and the course of its story. Welcome to our gooey science fiction which can be manipulated by its inhabitants. You are invited to interact. The participatory theater piece “There always will have been worlds” explores the boundaries between caring, carrying and controlling as the line between appears to be thin.

Friedel Hänsel, Vero Roza and Leonie Kopineck find each other in their second collaboration at the HfS Ernst Busch. The three of them share their passion for interactive objects, playful technologies, participatory theatre, sci-fi dramaturgies and collective working structures. In their practice they think of theatre events as active social gatherings where strangers can interact and come together in comfortable game - like social situations. In their works, they experiment with different sensors, bodies, wearables and their connections to 3D worlds built in Unity.
